How To Remove Marker From Clothes

Hairspray

Not all hairsprays are able to remove a permanent marker stain, only the alcohol-based will work well. Several companies have changed their formulation in order to reduce the amount of alcohol in their hairsprays. That’s why choose one that has alcohol mentioned in the label. Firstly, place a towel underneath the stain, take a cotton ball or tissue and spray some hairspray on it. Press the cotton ball on the stain continuously until the cotton ball absorbs all the stain. The towel underneath will stop the excess stain from spreading. Once the stain appears to be gone, you can proceed to wash the cloth according to the care label.

Rubbing Alcohol

Place the stained clothes on a paper towel (faced down), take a cotton ball and apply rubbing alcohol on it. Proceed to compress the cotton ball on the stain until you see the stain visibly transfer on the paper towel. First compress the surroundings of the affected area and then press rubbing alcohol into the center; this technique will be more effective. Wash your clothes afterwards using a wash cycle suited for the fabric.

Amodex

Using Amodex is another way to extract marker stain. Just like before, place your cloth on a paper towel and take a bristle brush or spoon. Apply Amodex on the affected area and scrape the area with a spoon thoroughly or use a stiff brush. Redo the action until the stain completely dissipates, then you can wash the clothes using any detergent you like.

White Vinegar

This is an effortless method. Since fabrics like leather can’t blot up alcohol, that’s why professionals usually recommend using white vinegar in such cases. Place the fabric on a plain surface and grab a microfiber towel or cotton ball. Take some white vinegar and soak the towel (or cotton). Compress the area until the stain comes off and then you can wash your cloth as required by the care label.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizers also have alcohol in them, making them a perfect replacement for hairspray and rubbing alcohol. It is perfect for small stains made by permanent markers. Take some hand sanitizer and apply it on the stained portion. Rub the sanitizer in a circular motion or brush it at a slow pace, and once the stain comes off, wipe the excess away with a towel (use one you don’t need or use a one-time towel). Then give your fabric a wash; hopefully, it’ll be good as new!

Always remember that the key element to get a stain off your cloth is to have enough patience because you might need to repeat certain methods recurrently or find a new method to apply. But don’t give up; where there’s a will, there’s a way, and hopefully, our article helped you find your way out of such a messy blunder made by these stubborn marker stains!
