How To Clean A Stain From Wedding Dress

Make-up Stains

Smeared your mascara? No fear, just grab a liquid detergent from your laundry room, add some drops on the stain. Remember to place a one-time towel underneath the stained layer, so the spot doesn’t transfer to other layers. Rub the area carefully with your fingernails and to your relief the stain will come off.

Mud Stains

Outdoor weddings do look straight out of a fantasy novel and have tons of benefits in making the day memorable. But if not careful, mud stains can become an unwanted companion for your wedding dress. Mud stains are very common on wedding dresses and you can easily get rid of them. First take a dry towel (wet towels don’t work as good as dry ones) or a cloth and continue to brush the dirt off. Don’t be aggressive; rubbing the area will spread the stain even more. Once you get all the dirt off, leave the rest of the task for your favorite dry cleaner.

Blood Stains

To remove blood stains, take the stained part and turn it over, then proceed to flush cold water on that side. It’ll help the stain to lighten. Apply a stain pre-treatment on the spot and let it settle for 15 minutes. Next, put your dress in a washing machine and launder it as the care label instructs.

Pollen Stains

Flowers are an inseparable part of a wedding dinner, whether the flower girls are dropping them along their way or the bride tossing them towards her bridesmaids. Blessings disguised as flowers can turn into a nightmare if the pollen grains get stuck on your wedding dress. And if left for a long time, it can leave stains. In order to steer clear of that, take a duct tape and start extracting the pollen grains. Keep doing it until all of the grains get stuck on the tape. Also remember to change the tape routinely.

Oil Stains

Did oil stains get onto your dress while enjoying lunch with your loved ones? Or is it grease from your wedding cake? Whatever the cause might be, we’ll show you how to deal with those mulish stains! First, place a towel under the stained cloth. Then take a Q-tip, begin to mix white vinegar and dish soap to make a solution. Dip the Q-tip in the solution and dab it in the affected area; the oil will automatically transfer to the towel beneath. Retry if needed and the stain will fade away.

Red Wine Stains

Should you bleach your wedding dress? Well, you can, but a safer option would be to take a cloth and dampen it with soda or sparkling water. Dab the dampened cloth over the blemish. Hold still for some minutes; the stain should start disappearing soon (avoid rubbing the spot).

If a malfunction happens on your big day, solving it on your own seems like the finer solution but remember it can sometimes create a bigger mess. That’s why professionals recommend dry cleaning by experts. But in this scenario, if you don’t have any other way, then just rest assured and follow the steps mentioned above.
